Program notes

This work was inspired by indigenous villagers from the Baram region in Sarawak state. They are people of the rainforest, traditionally they live by hunting and gathering food, their life are completely depend on the forests for their food and shelter. I deeply touched by their spirit to against the controversial projects in their lands.

The indigenous villagers set up a blockade to stop the construction of an access road leading to the site of the proposed controversial projects. Their message: we are very firm; we will not give up our land. We rely on the land; we want the land for the generations to come. I would like to dedicate this work to the indigenous villagers of the Baram. This work is also dedicated to my dear friend, Michael R. Garza.
